Are all your books on-hand and available for immediate shipment?

Yes.  Every book on our website is on-hand and stored on site in our climate controlled building. Very rarely, a book may sell twice to different customers at the same time because we do list our books on several internet book sites.  On those rare occasions we will make every effort to locate another copy of the book that is in as good or better condition than the sold copy.  You will also get an email from us letting you know of the problem and when to expect the replacement copy.  You are also always given the option of canceling your order if you prefer to do that.

Why is there an asterisk behind some book titles?

An asterisk after a title indicates that additional copies of that book are likely available but not currently displayed on the web page.  The book condition and price will vary since we acquire our inventory of used books from many different sources.  Please contact us for additional details. 

How much is Shipping & Handling?

Shipping charges are based on actual shipping costs plus a small  handling and packaging fee of $1.25 per order.  We ship within the US and to many other countries, as well and offer a variety of shipping options. 

What Payment options do you offer?

We offer direct real-time, on-line credit and debit card processing from our secure server during the Check Out process for Master Card, VISA and Discover.  If you prefer, we also cheerfully accept payment via PayPal. Just select that option from the Check Out screen.  You may call or FAX us with your credit card information if that is your preference.  Checks or Money Orders are also acceptable.  Your order will only be held for 7 days pending the receipt of your payment before being released for sale again, unless you have made other arrangements with us.

How soon do you ship?

We ship everyday Monday through Friday, except holidays.  Books are shipped promptly upon receipt of payment - normally, within 24 hours.

How long will it take for me to receive my book(s)?

That depends a little on where you are located and how far your package must travel.  Normally your book(s) will arrive within 4 -14 days via Standard Shipping (Media Mail).  Priority Mail generally arrives within 2 - 5 days.  The US Postal Service does not guarantee delivery times, unfortunately, and occasionally a package can take longer to reach you.  Please expect APO, Alaska and Hawaii destinations to require additional time.  It's also been my experience that books shipped to Oregon or Washington take slightly longer to arrive than most other continental US destinations.

Can I track my order?

You can track your order directly on our website.  We also ship all of our books going to US destinations with Delivery Confirmation.

How do I know my personal information is secure?

Our commitment to your security is a top priority at Used Book Attic.  We employ the industry standard SSL encryption that all major internet storefronts use (such as Amazon.com). We hear a lot about the few mishaps in the system, but you don’t often hear about the millions of transaction that take place flawlessly every day over the internet.  To date, we have had no reports of any security problems with any of our customers.
